Two determined students Evie Rowlandson - an ex Blue Coat School student - and her friend, Eve Piotrowski, have successfully completed a charity hitch-hike from Edinburgh to Paris in under 24 hours, raising more than double their original fundraising target.

Race to Paris is a national campaign held each November, where participants select a charity close to their hearts. Evie and Eve chose Children With Cancer UK, a cause they felt passionate about supporting.

Despite setting out with a modest goal of £500, they raised an incredible £1,018.

Evie and Eve said: “We are so grateful for the generosity of not only our friends and family but the generosity of the public who helped us get there.

"It was an amazing experience!”

Their journey began with fundraising on the streets of Edinburgh before hitchhiking more than 350 miles south.

With the funds raised, they secured a 10-hour coach ride straight to Paris, arriving within the 24-hour challenge window.

After several hours of well-earned recovery sleep, the girls enjoyed a few days in Paris with friends, celebrating their achievement and reflecting on the journey.

Their success not only highlights the adventurous spirit of young fundraisers, but also shines a light on the importance of supporting vital charities like Children With Cancer UK.
