HEART nurse Ann Dormer at Royal Oldham Hospital
A DEDICATED heart nurse at the Royal Oldham Hospital has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.
Ann Dormer (46), of Summerseat, Bury, has worked as lead nurse for heart failure at the Royal Oldham Hospital for the past seven years.
She works to improve the lives of patients who have suffered heart failure and are often left with distressing symptoms. She is also helping to develop heart failure services in the community.
She said: “I’m pleased to be nominated for the award and a bit shocked.
“My job partly consists of following up and managing patients with heart failure following their discharge. We try really hard with all our patients for a really good standard of service, and we work to reduce their symptoms and improve how patients are feeling.
“It is lovely that someone would take the time to nominate you for an award.”
Patient Mushtaq Raja (70), from Grotton, nominated Mrs Dormer. He said: “I have heart problems and when I told her about some of my problems, she treated me very well and listened to me.
“If any patient goes to her with a problem, she treats it as if it was her own. She is very professional and thorough, and I’m very impressed with her work
“She leaves no stone unturned to help you.”
