A MUMS and toddlers’ group which has seen generations of children pass through its doors has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.
The Pram Pushers mums and toddlers’ group has been meeting at the Salvation Army Citadel, in Roundthorn Road, for 16 years with the Sparklers mums and toddlers’ group created six years ago to open on different days. Both groups have gone from strength to strength and Lees mum-of-three Melanie Platt, who nominated them, said it was easy to
see why.
She said: “Both groups are run by volunteers and there is always someone to offer support and to listen to problems.
“If someone new turns up alone, the volunteers immediately introduce themselves and make them feel really welcomed.”
Group organiser Angela Sinclair, who runs the groups with husband Steve and a whole host of hardworking volunteers, was surprised by the nomination. She said: “We only do what we do — we don’t go out of our way but we are always there to listen.
“We’ve got a good number of volunteers who have brought their own children and stayed on, and they really enjoy it. “It feels great to be nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.”
