So glad to be a part of Pride

THE seventh Pride in Oldham awards, held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham, on Friday, December 4, were a triumph.
Here are the views of some of the special guests who attended the event.
Gail Richards, Chief Executive of Oldham PCT, said: “I think the Pride in Oldham Awards are absolutely fabulous and provide a huge opportunity for us to say “thank you” and really put the spotlight on some of the unsung heroes who are doing some tremendous work across the borough.”
David Heyes, MP for Ashton, who constituency includes Failsworth and Hollinwood, said: “I am glad to be a part of it. I think the biggest praise should go to the Oldham Chronicle for the work that goes on all year round in supporting the community.
“It’s great to be involved in and a part of.”
Chris Hamilton, Oldham Roughyeds Chief Executive, said:
“It is a fantastic event and it is going from strength to strength.
“It has engendered into the town as its title suggests. It welcomes people from all areas and is something to be proud of.”
John Sheridan, manager of Oldham Athletic, said: “It’s my second year that I have been here and people do a great job.
“Some of them get embarrassed but I’ve told them not to be - because it is something to be proud of.”
Councillor Howard Sykes, leader of Oldham Council, said:
“It is getting better and better. I’m glad to be here to recognise people who work quietly to make Oldham a better town.”
And Councillor Jackie Stanton, said:
“It is fabulous that we can recognise people who are doing the work. It is a great achievement for the borough.”
