DEDICATED Val Broadbent
A DEDICATED member of The Delph Club has earned a Pride in Oldham nomination for taking care of a team which uses the building.
Val Broadbent (54), of Stoneswood Road, Delph, has been a treasurer for the Gartside Street club for the past six years. She is also responsible for keeping it spick-and-span.
Outside the club, she is secretary of Oldham Sunday Football League, which is made up of 36 adult teams, and is the founder member of 3D Dynamos Junior Teams.
Mrs Broadbent was nominated by the Delph dads and lads club, which uses the club on a regular basis.
They said: “She organises the mini-bus and match tickets for our trips to Latics’ away games.
“Val also makes everyone’s breakfast and prepares a meal for when we get back. If that were not enough, she has also raised money for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Royton.”
The mother-of-two said: “The dads and lads group has 16 members including my boys and my husband Dave.
“They get together and play various sports and I prepare their meals for them.
“Myself and my husband set up the 3D Dynamos because our sons were finding it hard to get on to a football team. It has since gone from strength to strength.
“To be nominated for a Pride in Oldham award is great. I am really surprised to receive it.”
