BEAUTIFUL blooms in the borough have resulted in one Oldham Parks Team member being nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.
Ms Ruth Seville, a gardener based at Alexandra Park, fills the borough with colourful and creative displays including hanging baskets and bedding plants.
Ruth (35), who has worked in the role for 18 years, also prepares the Oldham display for the Britain in Bloom competition.
Irene Halsall nominated Ruth for the award for taking pride in all her work and showing talent.
Mother-of-one Ruth, from Brooklands Street, Royton, said: “I was quite shocked by the nomination and wasn’t expecting it.
“It came as quite a surprise but it makes me feel quite good.
“We’ve had a lot of good feedback from people this year saying how nice and bright the flowers look.
“People have actually stopped me when I’m watering the plants saying the displays look good and it brightens their day.
“It makes you feel like your work is worthwhile when that happens.”
