Take pride in the people of Oldham
Date published: 23 June 2010
The search is on to find the people and organisations that put the pride in Oldham.
Over the eight years of the Pride in Oldham awards, hundreds of people have experienced the red-carpet treatment at the glittering awards luncheon in recognition of their efforts.
And your Oldham Chronicle is delighted to lead the search for this year’s winners.
We are asking you, the Oldham public, to look around at the people within your schools, workplaces and communities who are worthy of praise.
As in previous years there will be 11 categories — professional, voluntary, group, education worker, health worker, sports performer, sports administrator, business, schools and special achievement . . . and a readers’ choice from all the nominations received.
The Chronicle would not be able to put on such a high-profile event were it not for the commercial backing of some of Oldham’s finest businesses and organisations.
Businesses like Molnlycke Healthcare and J W Lees Brewery who have been sponsors of Pride since its inception in 2002.
Other stalwart sponsors like Guinness Northern Counties Housing Association, University Campus Oldham and The Oldham College.
Rotary Club of Oldham Metro have been supporters for several years and the other major Pride in Oldham sponsor is Oldham Council, with the awards gala luncheon taking place in the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Thursday, December 2.
It’s down to readers to nominate someone by emailing us the details below. The closing date for entries is Friday, October 1.
