Mum Helen Povah and her superhero son Harvey
Tot to the rescue after mum knocked out
A Failsworth tot has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award for his quick thinking and first-aid skills.
Three-year-old Harvey Povah knew just what to do when his mum Helen knocked herself unconscious and lay bleeding from a head wound.
He stroked her face to bring her round, got a towel to stem the blood, and fetched her mobile phone.
Then he called her parents, and stayed by her side as she lay in the doorway to their home in Kew Road, Failsworth.
Now the little boy who is a nursery pupil at South Failsworth School has been hailed a superhero by his mum, Helen.
The accident happened when Helen was putting out milk bottles. She cracked her head on the outside mail box, knocking herself out. She was left lying half in and half out of the doorway, and was unconscious for a several minutes.
But while she was out cold, little Harvey sprang into action, tending his mother and going through her mobile to ring his grandparents to come and help.
Helen reckons Harvey, who celebrates his fourth birthday today, is her little hero and she added: “I’m just thrilled he’s been nominated and he’ll be really pleased. He’s just been a very good boy.”
