PROFESSIONAL and courteous staff at the Donald Wilde Medical Centre have been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.

Patient Arthur Mottley (62), from Heron Street, regularly attends the surgery and was so impressed by the welcome and care he recedived from the receptionists, practice nurses and other staff that he decided to put pen to paper and nominate the whole team.

He said: “I’ve been going there since I had a small stroke. The receptionist, nurses and people who run the centre are very professional, pleasant and courteous.

“They carry out blood tests and samples for me and I think they deserve the nomination.

“Other surgeries have been nominated before so I thought it was their turn.”

The medical centre, based in Rochdale Road, houses three GPs and 14 staff in total.

Diane Platt, practice manager, said she was surprised by the nomination for what she believes is just the team doing their job.

She said: “Mr Mottley is a nice gentleman and it is really nice to be appreciated but we are only doing our jobs.

“We hold a wide variety of clinics and carry out tasks, from scheduling appointments to distributing medication. That’s what we’re here for.”
