DEVOTED . . . Mark Holland with his wife Paula and their son Tyler
A DEVOTED husband who goes out of his way to make life easier for his wife has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham Award.
Mark Holland (41) works full time as a graphic designer and spends his nights looking after his wife of 10 years, Paula, and their two-year-old son Tyler.
Paula (38) suffers from psoratic arthritis and finds even the simplest tasks impossible due to the pain in her wrists, hips and hands.
She said: “Mark has helped me so much. I am in a lot of pain and Mark works full time and when he comes home he has to look after me and Tyler. He makes the tea and cleans up.
“He only gets to sit down at 9.30pm and then it starts all over again for him the next day. I wanted to nominate him as my way of saying thank you for all he does for his family.”
Mark, of Ripponden Road, Moorside, said “I am really shocked that Paula has nominated me but it is very nice of her. I don’t think I do anything above and beyond, I just do what any husband would do for their wife and I am more than happy to do it.
“Everyone deserves the best quality of life possible and I will do whatever it takes to give Paula whatever she needs. I enjoy supporting my family.
“When Paula’s arthritis flares up she finds it difficult to move and she is in a lot of pain. Tyler is a little monkey at the minute and he’s into everything so Paula gets a break when he goes to nursery.
“My day is packed with stuff to do. I am always tired but get used to it.”
