Nothing too much trouble for caring Donna

A DEDICATED member of the Failsworth School pastoral team has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.

Donna Hirst has worked at the Brierley Street school for the past six years helping to sort out any problems students may have.

Now the mum-of-three has been nominated for her hard work by colleague Nikki Conroy, head of house at Failsworth School.

She said: “Donna helps to look after the welfare of students in the school and deal with issues ranging from behaviour to punctuality.

“Donna goes above and beyond her duty, nothing is too much trouble for her and she has built up a great relationship with students.

“Her role is now more focused on student-behaviour issues, such as students being out of lessons or misbehaving, but she will dip in to other areas to ensure students welfare is paramount.

“She is absolutely fantastic and is a credit to our school.”

Mrs Hirst (48), from Hampton Road, Failsworth, said: “I’m speechless and in shock that I have been nominated. I just do what everyone else does.

“There are 10 pastoral workers on the team. We work with the students and we really care about them.

“I love my job — it’s great getting to know the students and helping them to achieve.”
