Date published: 01 October 2013
BUDDING young actors have been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award for their hard work and dedication in helping to promote a positive image of the town and its young people.
The Young Rep Company at Oldham Coliseum is a small group of young people, aged between 16 and 19, who give up their spare time to produce small plays and perform them at libraries across the town and further afield.
Working with staff at the Coliseum’s learning and engagement department, the company recently toured a very successful adaptation of the book “Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam” as part of the National Reading Challenge initiative, receiving rave reviews for their performances.
They were nominated by Richard Hall, head of participation at Oldham Coliseum, who said: “At the Coliseum we are extremely proud of the Young Rep group which is producing accessible and quality community theatre across the borough and beyond.
“In doing so they are promoting a positive image of young people and Oldham.
“They really are a credit to the Coliseum and to Oldham.”
