FUNDRAISER Lesley Marshall
Lesley Marshall has raised thousands of pounds for military charity Help for Heroes over the years, despite suffering a serious back injury of her own.
Since undergoing a back reconstruction, 47-year-old Lesley has been left slightly disabled. Having to give up horse riding pushed her to look for something else to do, and she turned her attention to helping others.
She now spends much of her spare time raising money with her husband Ian.
“I think we owe a great deal of gratitude to our armed forces,” said Lesley, who lives in Springhead Springhead and is a wages administrator at Master Palm Properties in Oldham.
Lesley was nominated for a Pride in Oldham award by her colleague Diane Riley, manageress of Stoneleigh House, one of Master Palm’s care homes.
She said: “Lesley is a volunteer for Help for Heroes and the majority of her spare time consists of co-ordinating places where she sets up her stall for fundraising, purely through her passion to raise funds for others.
“She continues regardless, always smiling even though she is in a vast amount of pain herself.”
