Diane’s Key role in independent living

A COMMUNITY support worker’s caring ways have earned her a Pride in Oldham award nomination.

Diane Chatterley works for Keyring, which helps adults with special needs to live independent lives, and was nominated by Christine Walters of St Margaret’s Gardens in Hollinwood.

Christine (56) suffers from mental health issues, arthritis and osteoporosis and was introduced to Diane 12 months ago.

She said: “I had a social worker before who never did anything for me. It was a bad experience. Diane helps me and all her other clients with everything. If I hadn’t got Diane then I wouldn’t be here today.”

Diane, a grandmother of two, worked at Royd Mill, Chamber Road, for 20 years before being made redundant. She worked for First Choice Homes Oldham before joining Keyring 10 years ago

Diane (51), from Garden Suburbs, said: “I feel quite privileged, quite happy. Since getting support from us, Christine has a better quality of life. Where she was living before was having a massive effect on her.

“I absolutely love working at Keyring. It’s a fantastic place and fantastic organisation to work for.”
