Are you up for the epic Pizza Challenge?
Date published: 02 February 2018
Oldham-based pizza oven specialists Linda Lewis Kitchens (LLK) are taking on an epic food challenge like no other, all in the name of charity, and are inviting other local businesses to do the same.
Taking place every Friday throughout February, from 11am to 2pm, LLK will be hosting pizza eating challenges with all proceeds going to Dr Kershaw’s as part of the charity’s ‘£28 for 28-day challenge’.
Inspired by popular tv show ‘Man Vs Food’, the mammoth pizza-eating challenges have been specially designed by LLK’s Development Chef, Fabio.
All pizzas will be cooked in a range of ovens in LLK’s development kitchen where they regularly host demonstration days for a range of customers.
One of the tests available for pizza-lovers to tackle is the 50x50” team challenge.
Teams of between six and eight must polish off all the pizza (and its toppings!) in one hour to make it onto the Wall of Fame.
Challengers can split the pizza into four and choose from Margherita, Pepperoni, Meat Feast and Vegetable pizzas.
Entry for the 50” challenge is charged at £5.50 per team member with all proceeds going to the Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
The second challenge for only the hungriest competitors is the 28” solo pizza challenge. Individual contenders are invited to chow down a massive 28” pizza and its toppings in just 45 minutes to make it onto the Wall of Fame.
Challengers can again choose from Margherita, Pepperoni, Meat Feast and Vegetable Pizzas, or they can choose to mix it up a bit and go for a half and half pizza (we all know variety is the spice of life)!
Competitors are required to register for the challenge by emailing kitchens@linda-lewis.co.uk stating their team name, how many competitors will be taking place and what date and time they wish to compete.
Six team members from LLK are also being sponsored to take part in the 50x50” challenge on the 23rd February and will be live streaming their attempt via their Instagram @LLKLTD.
