How good is Parliament Square Café & Deli in Oldham? Well, as someone who takes his cake and coffee seriously, I’m glad I didn’t walk past!

I’m no food critic, and wouldn’t want to be, but I’ll happily admit to being a bit of a cake-and-coffee snob. So I was spitting feathers with delight when the red velvet cake turned out to be world-beating and the Americano was absolutely spot on.

A special mention too, for Jodie and Rachael, who were both brilliant, friendly, welcoming service makes a real difference, and they helped make the visit all the more enjoyable.

The setting adds to the experience, too. A life-size photograph of the Houses of Parliament provides an unusual backdrop while you sit back and enjoy your coffee.

Parliament Square Café & Deli offers a place to stop for coffee, something to eat and a bit of time out. Whether you fancy breakfast, lunch or simply a decent slice of cake, it’s well worth a look.

My advice is simple. Give it a try for yourself.

Don’t do what I do and walk straight past, or worse, automatically head into one of the national chains without considering what’s on offer locally.

Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones you nearly walked past.

And with a cracking slice of red velvet cake, a spot-on Americano and brilliant service from Jodie and Rachael, Parliament Square Café & Deli gets my vote.
