Participants can walk, run, cycle, wheel or dance 5.9km during September.

The virtual challenge begins on 1 September, with participants able to complete the distance wherever they choose.

One 5.9km lap is enough to complete the challenge, although people can record additional laps throughout the month.

Money raised will go to the Mental Health Foundation's work to prevent poor mental health.

Alexa Charnley, Director of Fundraising and Communications at the Mental Health Foundation, said: “We’re so happy to partner with McLaren Racing to bring this fun challenge to people in the North West and beyond. Whether you take on one virtual lap of Silverstone or aim for a full Grand Prix distance, every kilometre completed and every pound raised will help support better mental health.

“It's a great way to get active, connect with others, and make a real difference.

“Mental health problems are not inevitable. As the UK's only charity dedicated to preventing poor mental health, we work to tackle the root causes before problems develop. By taking part, supporters will help us create a future where everyone has the opportunity to have good mental health.”

People who register will receive an online challenge page to record their distance and fundraising.

Those raising £10 will be eligible for a T-shirt, while the first 250 participants to raise £75 will receive a McLaren Racing and Mental Health Foundation water bottle. Those raising £150 will receive a Mental Health Foundation medal, subject to availability.

The highest fundraiser will receive a pair of tickets for the FIA World Endurance Championship's 6 Hours of Silverstone in April 2027, including behind-the-scenes access with the McLaren Hypercar team.

People raising at least £300 will also be entered into a draw in which two participants will each receive a pair of tickets with behind-the-scenes access.

Entrants for the ticket competition must be aged 18 or over and have a UK postal address.
