Finishing straight here for teams

Date published: 25 March 2009

WITH just a week to go until we reach the finish post the Heavy Mob look to have pulled away in the race for top spot.

They notched up an impressive 59 points in week 9 while rivals Wide Load could only score 55 and they are now nine points adrift with only next week’s final weigh-in to go.

This week saw our recruits resorting to desperate measures to make sure they achieved the right results on the scales.

Jewellery, shoes and wallets were removed as they queued up to be weighed but I don’t think anyone was prepared for Chaddy the Owl’s “Incredible Hulk” underpants when he whipped off his jeans in the hope of making himself lighter.

As the gang head towards the 10 week marker it’s getting even harder for them to keep up with the weight loss but most of them are battling on with steely determination.

John Carhart lost a single point by staying the same weight this week but he is still on target to make his 10lbs in ten weeks.

The rest of Maggie’s team hit the full house.

Nicola Melvin’s Wide Load, who had managed to shorten the gap thanks to Big Al’s efforts on the Wii Fit a couple of weeks ago could only manage two team members achieving maximum marks — Big (soon to be Medium) Al and Bernard Stone, the latter still maintaining his impressive tally of losing weight on all nine weeks so far.

In next week’s Chronicle the recruits will face their final weigh-in.
