The force said the total included more than 620,000 emergency 999 calls, 701,000 non-emergency 101 calls and 77,000 LiveChat enquiries.

Staff in its Force Contact, Crime and Operations Branch take reports, assess incidents and coordinate police responses across Greater Manchester, including Rochdale, Bury and Bolton.

Their work includes responding to reports of violence, serious road collisions and missing people. Other teams record crimes and manage resources during incidents.

Martine Craven, Head of Force Contact and Operations, said, “Our control room colleagues are often the first person someone speaks to during a crisis, providing reassurance, gathering vital information and ensuring the right response is sent when it is needed most.

“Last year alone, our teams handled more than 1.5 million contacts from the public. Behind every call, online enquiry and incident is a dedicated member of staff showing professionalism, resilience and compassion to help keep people safe.”

International Control Room Week recognises contact handlers, dispatchers, crime recording teams and colleagues supporting operational policing.

Craven said, “If you need police assistance, please choose the most appropriate way to contact us. In an emergency, always call 999. For non-emergencies, you can contact us via 101, Live Chat or our online reporting services.”
