FAMILY Learning Champions at Werneth Park Lifelong Learning Centre are proud of their achievements. Learners have done the Early Years Foundation Stage Course, achieving Literacy Level One. They have also achieved the Numeracy Champions certificate, as well as Computers Don’t Byte, Online Basics and Learning Champions awards. They have now moved on to join the Learning Champions, aiming for literacy level Two.
Learning Champions have been involved in budget keeping, buying school textbooks, organising a Christmas meal for school governors and setting up a women’s pamper day. Work on numeracy by the group impressed the Ofsted inspectors when they visited in 2009.
The Learning Champions believe that anyone can join a course with Family Learning, regardless of age or Language skills. Werneth Park, where some courses are based, is in easy reach and close to home for many.
Learning Champions are grateful to staff tutors Yvette Cotman, Lynn Dixon and Julie Stones for their support and guidance
Ladies involved in the course, pictured, include: Farzana Mazhar, Naseem Akhtar, Rubina Kouser, Naila Barket, Tamina Bhatti, Suhela Khanom, Wahida Bi, Riana Kosir and Suma Choudhury.
