A FAMILY day of fun is sure to put smiles on faces at the Church Inn, Uppermill tomorrow from noon.

A bouncy castle, face painting, cake stall and a wealth of other activities will raise funds for Higginshaw Thai Boxing to go towards new equipment.


A 12-mile circular walk will climb up to Alphin in the Peak District National Park on Sunday. Organised by the council’s parks and countryside department, the walk will start at 10am from the Brownhill Countryside Centre with walking boots and a packed lunch a must.


BANISH the holiday blues with energetic volleyball sessions from next Monday at Saddleworth School in Uppermill. For children aged 8-16, sessions costs just £5 and run from 10am-3pm. To book ahead contact Nitin Solanki on 0161-770-3683.


JOIN the Saddleworth Naturalists for their outdoor meeting next Wednesday. Led by Anne Parry, join in the fun at Delph Methodist Church car park from 7pm.


ENJOY a brew at the Uppermill Methodist Centre during a chairty coffee morning on Wednesday at 10.


DELVE into the past with the Lees Local History Society at a meeting next Friday from 2pm. Open to all members of the community, the meeting will be held at the Lees Library Community Hub.


DUST off those wartime costumes as there is just a week to go until the Yanks Are Back In Saddleworth. The 10th anniversary event will take place from Friday, August 12, to Sunday, August 13, with a military vehicle parade, Dakota flyover and nostalgic revelry planned.

A change of venue means many attractions are based at Saddleworth School in Uppermill.
