AN underwater hockey team from Tameside, which renamed itself Greenfield, finished fourth at a national tournament in Devon. The team was sponsored by the Greenfield Real Ale Brewery and took a barrel of home brew for the post-competition beer festival.

COMMUNITY-minded residents in Springhead are gearing up for a big bacon butty morning at the Ashes Lane Community Centre. Raising cash for Macmillan Cancer Support, the tasty event will take place from 10am on Saturday, September 24.



HELP out the Springhead Congregational Church at a fund-raising jumble sale on Friday, September 23. The bargain hunting will start from 7pm at the Radcliffe Street church, with admission 20p.
