Beer festival

A TWO-day beer festival kicks off at Uppermill Conservative Club today. Entry is £2 with pints £2 and all proceeds will be donated to the Saddleworth branch of the Royal British Legion. For information contact Graham Sheldon on 01457-872100.


VISIT Greenfield Methodist Church tomorrow for a coffee morning in aid of church funds. Hot drinks, biscuits, homebake, bric-a-brac and a raffle will be on offer from 10.30 to 11.30am, with free admission.


STEP out in style at a fashion show at Springhead Congregational Church tonight, from 7.30pm. Admission is £2 including refreshments.


A Ceilidh with dancing and music by the Fiddlesticks Band will be staged at St Edward’s Parish Hall in Lees tomorrow, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Contact Dorothy on 0161-626-4466 for information.


JOIN the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) for a guided walk around Dovestone on Sunday, at 10.30am. It will take approximately three hours. Meet at the main car park at 10.30am.


PLANNING permission is being sought to build two houses on land adjacent to the Temple pub, Huddersfield Road, Oldham.


SADDLEWORTH Historical Society meets at the Saddleworth Museum in Uppermill next Wednesday, from 7.30pm. Liz Pagel will deliver a talk based on “Domestic Linen Production in the West Riding”.


A THREE-DAY tennis course takes place at Saddleworth Tennis Club, Well-I-Hole Road, Greenfield, Monday to Wednesday next week, from noon to 3pm. For youngsters aged eight to 16, it costs £5 per day.
