Festive switch-on

FATHER Christmas will pay a special visit to Springhead tonight. After the Christmas lights are switched on at 6pm, follow Santa to the Springhead Community Centre for stalls, entertainment and refreshments, from 6.30pm.




ALL the festive essentials — Home produce, gifts, toys, bric-a-brac and books — will be on offer during a fair at Delph Methodist Church tomorrow, from 10am to noon. Admission is £1, including coffee.



SPRINGHEAD Congregational Church holds a seasonal fair tomorrow. A cafe will sell home-made goods from 11am to 2pm, there will be various stalls and even photographs with Santa are up for grabs at the Radcliffe Street church.



EMBARK on a festive walk from Brownhill Countryside Centre on Sunday. Booking is essential for the seven- mile walk, with a stop-off at the Royal Oak, Heights, for festive food. To book ring 0161-770-4056.



ARTS and crafts lovers will be in heaven during a festive fair at the Uppermill Lifelong Learning Centre tomorrow. Admission is free to the event, from 11am to 3pm, with money raised to be donated to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and African Orphanage.



HELP raise money for the Samantha Jones Trust, which supports children suffering from Leukaemia, by visiting a flea market at the civic hall in Uppermill, from 10am-4pm on Sunday. Admission is 50p for adults and 30p for concessions.
