CELEBRATE the festive holidays with a Christmas Eve service in Uppermill tomorrow. Cribs will be blessed and shared in various homes throughout the village after the service at St Chad’s Church from 5pm.



TALENTED players from Dobcross Youth Band will be out spreading festive cheer on Christmas Day. Playing Yuletide favourites, the young band will be circling the village from 10am to noon.



JOIN in a New Year’s Day service in Diggle from noon-12.30pm. Come together for the celebratory event at the Hanging Gate car park in the village where the service will be lead by the Kiln Green Mission Church. Everyone is welcome with more information from Rev Duncan Rhodes on 01457-872-399.



PLAN ahead for the first 2012 meeting of the Saddleworth Townswomen’s Guild on Wednesday, January 4. New members are welcome to the meeting at Uppermill Methodist Church from 2pm.



CHAMPION whistler David Morris will put on a Christmas Day concert at the Dobcross Band Club from 1-3pm. Everyone is welcome to join in the celebrations with lunchtime carols and a performance by Friends On Brass. Money raised on the day will be donated to the Dobcross Elderberries.



PUT a date in your diary for a coffee morning at the St Chad Parish Centre in Uppermill. Taking place from 10am-noon on Saturday, January 7, 2012, admission to the morning is £1 including coffee and cake with money raised going to Dr Kerhsaw’s Hospice.



PLANNING permission is being sought to turn a detached barn at Woods Farm, Church Fields, Dobcross, into a single detached house. The owners of Tatchin Barn at Church Road in Uppermill are also applying for permission to change its use from a holiday let to an artist’s studio with living accommodation.
