Mobility scheme halted
Date published: 27 April 2012
A CONTROVERSIAL plan to build a centre to help disabled people get out into the Saddleworth countryside has been withdrawn.
Some residents had objected to the proposals for an outreach centre renting out trampers — all-terrain mobility scooters for people with disabilities - partly because the scheme, for land off Manchester Road, Greenfield, also included a house for the disabled person who was to run the business.
No reason was given at the meeting for the withdrawal of the application, which council officers had recommended for refusal
