SADDLEWORTH Historical Society will stage a talk at Saddleworth Museum on Wednesday from 7.30pm. Led by Michael Russell, the presentation is entitled “The Oldham Lyceum — a vehicle for the moral, cultural and intellectual well-being of the citizens of Oldham”.




A GIANT new-to-you sale will turn Springhead Congregational Church into a bustling marketplace on Thursday. Clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, books and shoes will be on offer from 10am-9pm alongside homemade food to help raise funds for the church.



A CHARITY lunch will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support at the White Hart in Lydgate on Sunday, May 13. Tickets to the the lunch, priced £25, are available on 0161-652-3705.



A FOLK concert starring The Home Towners and Tony Downes with special guest Marie Little, takes place at Uppermill Conservative Club in High Street. The show starts at 8.30pm on Friday, May 25. A COFFEE morning at St Chad’s Parish Centre in Uppermill will raise cash for El Tular in El Salvador tomorrow. Taking place from 10-11.30am, admission is £1 including coffee and cake, while cards will also be on sale as well as a raffle.



SADDLEWORTH Golf Club is presenting an evening of mediumship with Pauline Montgomery on Friday, May 11, to raise cash for the captain’s charities. The show starts at 7.30pm. Admission is £5 but tickets are available on 07832-877 662.



LEE Street Centre in Uppermill, is hosting a Floral Art Display entitled “Out of the Attic” by Kate Russell. It takes place from 7.30pm on Tuesday. Admission is £4.
