THE Volunteer of Saddleworth Award will be handed out at a special dinner at Greenfield Conservative Club tonight.
The event, which will also act as a fund-raiser for Saddleworth Parish Council’s chairman’s charities, will also see a Young Volunteer of Saddleworth gong handed out for the first time.
PLANNING permission is being sought to change the use of 129 Chew Valley Road in Greenfield from a sweet shop to living accommodation.
DON’T miss the annual plant sale at Saddleworth Museum in Uppermill on Sunday from 11am-3.30pm. Locally-grown plants will be on sale, as well as bacon butties, sandwiches, cakes, drinks and preserves with admission free.
STEP back into the Seventies at the White Hart, Lydgate, tonight to help raise cash for breast cancer charity Link4Pink. Tickets are £30 including a meal from Rita Bottomley on 0161-626-6935.
THE new chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council will be sworn in at a meeting on Monday. Current chairman, councillor Bill Cullen, will hand over the chains during the meeting at the civic hall in Uppermill from 7.30pm.
THE Lees and Hey Homewatch Association will next meet at Lees Library on Wednesday May 30, at 7.30pm.
SADDLEWORTH School pupils from 1977, ’78 and ’79 can relive their youth with a reunion at The Wellington pub in Greenfield. Catch up with some old faces at the Chew Valley Road pub from 7.30pm tomorrow.
JOIN in a Jubilee afternoon tea at Lees Library on Wednesday, May 30, from 2 to 3.30pm. Visitors will also get chance to brush up on their gardening skills as experts from Daisy Nook Garden Centre will be on hand to provide advice and hand out vouchers.
