LEAVERS from Saddleworth School will go out in style when they put on their gladrags for their summer prom. They’ll celebrate at Hotel Smokies Park on Thursday, June 28.
THE Saddleworth Historical Society will explore the topic “The Beefeaters at the Tower of London since 1820” at the next meeting. The talk, given by Paul Ward, will take place from 7.30pm on Wednesday.
MEET with the Greenfield and Grasscroft Residents’ Association for local news, views and action on Thursday. Join in the debate at the upstairs room of the Methodist Chapel in Chew Valley Road, Greenfield, from 7.30pm.
DUST off those hats and fascinators for a splendid day at the races on Thursday, June 21. The Royal Ascot Ladies Day at the White Hart in Lydgate will raise cash for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. Contact 01457-872-566.
SONGS, rhymes, stories and fun activities will take place at Saddleworth’s libraries next week. Sessions for youngsters take place from 2-3pm on Wednesday at Uppermill library, on Thursday at Lees Library and Friday (June 15) at Greenfield Library.
A PRIZE presentation will be staged at Diggle Band Club on Sunday at 2.30pm including afternoon tea. The Diggle B Band will play a short concert followed by a presentation of prizes for performances during the Whit Friday band contest.
TRAINING for the Saddleworth Village Olympics is set to start in Greenfield on Monday, June 18. Parents who want to register their children to take part in the September games for the Greenfield Team can visit St Mary’s or Greenfield School or Greenfield Cricket Club from 2pm on Sunday.
