YORKSHIRE Day will this year be celebrated in Saddleworth on Sunday, July 29.


Local brass bands will lead the parade up Uppermill High Street on the day to King George V playing fields where an abundance of stalls will make up a country fair. To book a stall contact Brenda Cockayne on 01457-874 686 or 01457-872 529.



PLANNING permission is being sought to demolish the existing outbuildings and perimeter brick wall at Mellor House, Cross Street, Lees.



THE Sing for Pleasure Choir will put on a rousing summer concert at Uppermill Civic Hall tomorrow at 7.30pm. They’ll join guests Oldham Music Centre Youth Brass Band for the gig, with proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Society. Tickets can be bought from the Flower Shop in Uppermill.



AN evening of mediumship with Gloria Gynes will be staged at Saddleworth Spiritualist Church in Uppermill tomorrow. Admission is £2 to the evening from 7.30pm, with proceeds going to church funds.



WRIGLEY Mill Bowling Club will host a flea market at the civic hall in Uppermill on Sunday. Entry is 50p between 10am and 4pm.



CLOTHES, handbags, shoes and accessories will be on sale at a pre-loved fashion show on Wednesday. Hosted by the Saddleworth Cancer Research Campaigners, the show will take place between 2 and 6pm.



JOIN the relaxed and informal reading group at Lees Library. Discover new authors, books and meet new people when the group meet on Wednesday from 6-7pm.
