Saddleworth Summer Show could return to Saddleworth School again next year following the success of this year’s first staging at the new venue.
Show director Stan Bowes said that despite gloomy weather the event still made a lot of money for charity. Extended to two days for the first time, the event moved to Saddleworth School, Uppermill after drainage work at Greenfield’s Churchill Playing Fields put the ground out of action.
Stan said: “In my personal view, the advantages of the school outweigh the disadvantages. When it’s a hot, sunny day, Churchill is great. But by going to the school, we avoid the risk of an all-out washout (since the school offers indoor as well as outdoor events).
Rotary organisers have already discussed a move with the school and will make a final decision on making the change more permanent
