Fresh look for Village Olympics
Date published: 04 September 2012
Organisers of the upcoming Saddleworth Village Olympics are hoping to breathe new life into this year’s competition by introducing dodgeball.
Looking to emulate the Olympic spirit of this summer’s London 2012 Games, organisers are keen to see as many participants as possible turning their hand to sport.
And having already produced Olympian Jessica Lloyd and Paralympian Ben Procter, it’s hoped the countryside competition will bring out the best in some future sports stars.
The opening ceremony for the village games, which brings the seven villages of Saddleworth together to compete, takes place on Saturday at Saddleworth School, with games running every weekend until September 23.
