GUZZLE down traditional beers and special ales at the Saddleworth Beer Festival today and tomorrow.

Presented by the Round Table and British Legion, tickets for the event held at Uppermill Civic Hall cost £4 a day or £6 for both days. Entertainment is on offer, as is a Yard of Ale competition.


ENJOY a night of music as ex-Supergrass bassist Mick Quinn performs with his new three-piece DB Band at Uppermill Civic Hall. Supported by local bands Where’s Strutter and Paddy and the Crusade, doors to the gig next Friday will open at 7.30pm. There will be charity collections for the British Heart Foundation and Alzheimer’s Society. Tickets cost £7 and can be bought at seeticket.com


POLICE have warned of a number of attempted thefts of Land Rover Defenders in the Saddleworth area. A vehicle in Uppermill was targeted last week before two quad bikes were taken from a Greenfield farm. Earlier this week, a white Land Rover Defender was taken from Roughtown Road, Mossley. Anyone with any information should ring police on 101.


THE PARISH Council discussed a number of planning applications for buildings across the area. An application to change a field into a sustainable car parking area at Oak View Mill, Manchester Road, was recommended for approval.
