Big spike in vehicle crime
Date published: 01 February 2013
BURGLARY and car crimes have risen sharply in Saddleworth.
The figures were revealed at the Saddleworth District Partnership meeting by Insp Danny Milovanovich.
He said last year saw a doubling of vehicle-related crimes over the previous year to 181 - but this was still 90 fewer than four years ago.
Over the past 12 months there were 124 burglaries, compared to 109 the year before - again 90 fewer than four years ago.
Control of anti-social behaviour saw alcohol-related incidents drop by 23 and criminal-damage down by 118 over the year.
Insp Milovanovich said: “We used to have an army of us out on Friday nights, but that is no longer necessary - that’s a credit to the work we have all done over the last few years. The partnership in Saddleworth and Lees is second to none.”
