FINDING the Unexpected: The Discoveries of a Roman Tombstone and a Bronze Age Amber Necklace is the next lecture by the Friends of Castleshaw, at Saddleworth Museum, on Wednesday from 7.30pm.
FRIEZLAND Primary School is holding a Fairtrade Fortnight, and inviting parents and local residents to join the celebration at the school next Friday at a tea and entertainment afternoon, from 1.30-3pm. Entry is £1.50 and includes Fairtrade tea, coffee, scones, jam and cream.
SWAP baby and children’s toys and clothes at a car boot sale and swap shop at Saddleworth School on Sunday from 10am. Doors open 10am, or 9am for sellers. To get a pitch call 07748 601 248.
ADULTS and children can enjoy the St Chad’s patronal dinner at Kilngreen Church on Sunday from 1pm. There will be light entertainment during the meal and a raffle. RAY Hoerty, a member of Saddleworth Civic Trust, presents “What’s in a Name?”, a history of streets and pubs in Manchester, at Saddleworth Museum on Thursday from 7.30pm. Free entry, plus refreshments.

ENJOY a series of lunches as part of the Lent pilgrimage every Wednesday until March 27 at St Chad’s Parish Centre, from noon-1pm. There is no entry fee as any donations for the meal will go to Christian Aid. There will be guest speakers at each lunch. All age groups and families welcome.
