JOIN up with other concerned neighbours to protect your local area at a Lees and Hey Home Watch Group to be held at Lees Library on Wednesday from 7.30pm.


OLDHAM Mayor, Councillor John Hudson, will open the fair at Christ Church Hall, Oaklands Road, Friezland on Saturday, June 29, at 1pm, where there will be stalls, refreshments and raffle prizes galore until 4pm.


GREENFIELD St Mary’s School PTFA is holding its Family Festival tomorrow from 3pm, where there will be a huge range of fun activities for all the family, including giant inflatables, a toy stall, face painting and penalty shoot-out competition. Live music follows from 6pm, with a bar and barbecue.



SADDLEWORTH Mothers’ Club is hosting a coffee evening on Wednesday to raise money for Francis House Rainbow Trust Hospice Appeal. Held at the Parish Centre, Lee Street, Uppermill, from 7.30pm. Admission £1.



THE Dementia Friends group will meet at Diggle Band Club on Tuesday from 7.30pm. Book a spot online at www.dementiafriends.org.uk. Future meetings are to be held at a range of locations, as the Satellite Centre and Uppermill Civic Hall have now offered their venue as a meeting point.



LOCAL author Tony Howard has scooped a second prestigious award for his book “Troll Wall”, which he wrote back in 1965. The almost 50-year-old story describes the first ascent of Norway’s Troll Wall, the biggest vertical rock wall in Europe.



A musician has created his first album from his “bedroom-based” recording studio. Stephen Evans, of Greenfield, who plays bass guitar with Twisted Wheel, has produced the 14-track album on his own record label, Play and Record Records. There are only 150 copies of the record left, which can be purchased online for £10 at www.playandrecordrecords.blogspot.com .



EXTRA police patrols have been making their way around Saddleworth after an increase in reported burglaries. Report any suspicious activity immediately on 101, and the patrols will be alerted.



DIG Diggle this Sunday at the annual Dig Diggle Summer Fete held at Diggle Primary School from 1.30 to 5.30pm. Entry is £1.50 for adults and 50p for children, for a barbecue, live music, tombola, climbing wall, bouncy castle and games.
