MAKE sure your local area is safe by attending the Saddleworth Home Watch Group on Wednesday from 7.45pm, at Uppermill Conservative Club.
A TOTAL of £325 was raised by walkers in the unofficial Saddleworth beer walk in May. The group has now handed over the cheque to Saddleworth Cancer Research UK.
JUDGING for the Build a Gate for Lydgate competition begins on Sunday from 12.30pm. There is a first prize of £30 for the winning gate, judged by Dr Andrew Taylor, chairman of Greenfield and Grasscroft Residents’ Association.

THE Cross Keys Inn is planning on celebrating its 250th anniversary this year with a summer family fun day, themed nights and wine-tasting events. The pub also has a new menu and is planning on creating its own Cross Keys bitter with the help of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale).
RAISE money in memory of murdered Diggle police constable Nicola Hughes and her colleague Fiona Bone at a charity night at the Off The Rails Comedy Club, Greenfield, on Wednesday from 7.30pm. The proceeds will be split between the Police Dependants Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support. Tickets available from www.saddleworthcomedy.co.uk.
POLICE have confirmed there will be no charges made against a man involved in an Uppermill incident in which two people were injured on Saturday, June 29.
