Men in sheds

NINE new members have signed up to a new “Men in Sheds” initiative based at the Satellite centre, Wellington Road, Greenfield. Running on Thursdays and Fridays, the project aims to reduce isolation in men over 55 and improve their health and wellbeing.


BAG a bargain at a fashion show and sale at Springhead Congregational Church, Radcliffe Street, tonight at 7.30pm. Entry costs £2, including light refreshments, in aid of church funds.



A MONTHLY coffee morning takes place at St Chad’s Parish Centre, Station Road, Uppermill, tomorrow from 10 to 11.30am. Admission is £1 and includes home-made cakes and coffee with the cause supported this month being the Genesis Breast Cancer Appeal. A separate raffle is also being held.



SADDLEWORTH Parish Council’s chairman’s charity hosts a wedding fair at Uppermill Civic Hall on Sunday from 11am to 4pm. There will be more than 30 exhibitors with the £1 entry going to the charities. Call Dianne Sheldon on 07891-575 043.



OLDHAM Tinkers will make a rare appearance in Saddleworth tomorrow when they join Versatile Brass under the direction of James Shepherd, and master of ceremonies Dave Morris at the annual Dobcross concert at Holy Trinity Church. Tickets available from Dobcross post office, the band club, and The Swan Inn.



A GROUP bike ride sets off from the Lime Kiln Cafe, Brownhill Visitor Centre, Uppermill, on Tuesday. It’s a 9.30 for 10am start for the easy morning ride or 1.30 for 2pm easy afternoon session. For more information call Rob Newton on 07941-757 685.
