THE Friends of Saddleworth Museum are holding a British tapas evening at the Navigation Inn, Dobcross, on Monday, February 24.

SCHOOLS, churches and craft groups are being urged to put the kettle on for Fairtrade, and make a Big Brew to help make a difference to the lives of farmers in the developing world. Host a tea party during Fairtrade Fortnight, which starts on Monda, with the help of a resource pack available from www.traidcraftshop.co.uk/big-brew.
JOIN Lees Community Association at its sixth anniversary meeting, and find out how you can help the organisation go from strength to strength, on Tuesday at Lees Library from 7pm.
VOLUNTEERS got a pat on the back from Street Scene, Greenfield, for helping to lay two tonnes of stone on the towpath at the front of the Kingfisher pub, Greenfield.

A COFFEE morning takes place at St Chad Parish Centre, Station Road, Uppermill, on Saturday, March 1. Admission is £1 for coffee and cake to raise money for WaterAid. Raffle and gift cards will be on sale from 10-11.30am.
BROWSE craft, gift and food stalls at Saddleworth Creative Network’s Spring festival on Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2. Tombola, teashop, face-painting and more, from 10am-4pm at Uppermill Civic Hall, free entry.
THE Black Dyke Brass Band are hosting a concert this Saturday at the Uppermill Civic Hall from 7.30pm. Conductor Dr Nicholas Chiles has put together an entertaining evening which will feature the famous Queensbury March, music from Carl Jenkins, the local favourite hymn-tune ‘Crimond’, and all the their top soloists and much, much more.
