“THE Threetles Second Summer of Love and Peace” charity music night plays tonight from 7.30 at Saddleworth Civic Hall, Uppermill.

The four-piece Beatles celebration band will play songs from The Beatles glory days, in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust and Saddleworth Parish Council’s chairman’s charities. Tickets from Uppermill Post Office or from Paul Brierley (07876 207169).


ENJOY a coffee and a cake for £1 to raise money for the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund tomorrow at St Chad Parish Centre, Station Road, Uppermill, 10-11.30am. Raffle, cards and other goods on sale.


OLDHAM Writing Cafe meets tomorrow at Lees Library, 10.30am-12.30pm, refreshments available. The group is working on an anthology of poems, stories and non-fiction writing to be e-published.


SADDLEWORTH Singers host their “Have a Dream” summer concert tomorrow at 7.30pm at Uppermill Methodist Church. The concert includes an Abba tribute, hits from musicals and films, culminating in the Royal Northern College of Music accompanying the choir in “Skyfall.” Tickets from Kathleen Sykes, 0161-628 2564.


HAVE a giggle at a “laughter workshop,” the subject of Monday’s monthly talk at Lydgate Parish Hall, 2pm. No jokes, no comedy routines, just simple laughter activities. More details from Jennifer on 01457 877935.


CELEBRATE the “Grand Depart,” the Yorkshire leg of the Tour de France, with the RSF Off Road Cycling Club, on a “Tour de Saddleworth” on Tuesday. The route passes through Saddleworth’s villages, hamlets and notable points of interest. Cyclists welcome to get off and push uphill! Meet at Lime Kiln Cafe, Brownhills Visitor Centre for a 10am start, all-day ride, lunch in a pub or cafe en-route, adults only.
