EMPLOYERS were briefed on the latest issues surrounding health-and-safety for contractors and the new Apprentice Levy during a breakfast event at Oldham Training Centre.
The Lees Road-based training organisation hosts Breakfast Hot Topic events for business and industrial clients, and this particular event was presented by the centre's health-and-safety consultant Richard Smith.
He gave an update on key findings from recent HSE investigations relating to using contractors at workplaces.
Mr Smith said: "Oldham Training Centre provide a range of bespoke health-and-safety support packages to enable employers to keep their businesses compliant, up to date, working within the law and, most importantly, to keep their workforce and clients safe."
The training centre's recruitment team also briefed employers on the changes to the new national Apprenticeship Levy.
Oldham Training Centre said it is working with employers to support them through the changes, including helping them with workforce planning and development, and the recruitment, selection and assessment of apprentices. Guests included Craig Langrish from Bury-based Wallwork Heat Treatment, Sam Thirley and Warren Rogers, both from Hellermann Tyton in Manchester, William Benn of Goyt Kitchen Fabrications in Ashton, and Graham Hollings from Proseat in Middleton.
Oldham Training Centre was founded in 1966 by manufacturing and engineering firms to run apprenticeships and training courses.
