Event celebrates Asian success

MORE than 400 people from the Oldham business community are expected to attend the Asian Business Association annual dinner and awards night at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham, on October 31.
The borough’s biggest business event of the year start with an exhibition in the Chadderton Suite at 4pm, when the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Shoab Akhtar, will officially open the event.
There will be a reception in the exhibition area from 6.30pm and the awards ceremony will start at 7.15pm.
The guest speaker is Mo Chaudhry, an entrepreneur from the Midlands where he has established a hugely successful Waterworld business. He has also appeared on television in Chanel 4’s “Secret Millionaire” series.
There will be musical entertainment from Dhol drummers and Bhangra dancers .
The association has commissioned a film on the impact and contribution of the immigrant population in Oldham, starting from the end of the second world war to the present day encompassing the Ukrainian, Polish, West Indian and South Asian peoples.
