PELICAN Public Relations is in line to pick-up a clutch of trophies after being shortlisted for six awards.

The Uppermill-based consultancy has had six of its campaigns included in the final of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRide Awards.

They recognise and reward best practice in public relations and acknowledge achievement at the highest professional level.

Six of the consultancy’s campaigns for National Recycling Week, Tangerine Confectionery, the British Metals Recycling Association and Recycling Action Yorkshire are in line for awards in five categories.

These are best use of media relations, best publication, public affairs, best use of photography, and not for profit.

Managing director Michael Bennett said: “To have so many campaigns shortlisted for so many awards is outstanding.

“It is rewarding to know that the standard of our work is recognised by colleagues in the industry.

“We hope that Recycle Now Week will be a winner as it was headed by television personality and West End star Denise Van Outen and featured a recycled dress made from items typically found in a household recycling bin.

“We commissioned leading, ethical fashion designer Gary Harvey to create the dress.”

Colin Farrington, CIPR director general said: “These awards are about raising industry standards and sharing best practice.

“The quality of entries is once again very impressive, reflecting the vibrancy and innovation of the PR industry outside of London.

“The judging procedure is rigorous and reaching the final shortlist is a major achievement. Pelican is to be congratulated.”

The winners will be announced at the CIPR PRide Awards presentation dinner at the Queen’s Hotel, Leeds, tonight.
