A DRESS agency offering designer clothes has opened in High Street, Uppermill, in the former Intimo lingerie premises.

Owner Cristina Cornforth, who also runs the adjoining Russo designer shoe store, admits that the change of emphasis is a reflection of the times, adding: “People are spending less and less on exotic lingerie.”

The new venture — Dress to Impress — opened two weeks ago.

“The idea came to me in a moment of inspiration and, once I have made a decision I just go for it,” said Cristina, from Shaw, who opened Russo footwear six years ago, starting the lingerie business 12 months later.

“Some items are sold the day they come in, there really is a demand for quality, competitively priced clothing,” she adds.

Cristina and the seller work out a value for the garment and the seller keeps 70 per cent of the sale price.
