UPPERMILL-based Pelican Public Relations has launched a graduate training programme to help secure the best new PR talent.
The 18-month programme will produce highly skilled consultants, says the sustainability, food and outdoor sports specialist.
Developed in conjunction with the PR consultancy’s sister company Pelican People, a specialist people development consultancy, the programme has already recruited Emma O’Brien to join the scheme directly from Staffordshire University.
Pelican managing director Michael Bennett said: “Rather than the insufficient and ad hoc on the job training that many young PR people receive, we recognise the need to ensure graduates are given a firm grounding in the skills necessary to do the job, through a structured programme.
“We plan to expand the programme in the year ahead and hope to get it recognised by one of the industry’s professional bodies.”
