£5m factory sale

ACTING on behalf of Slumberland Beds brand owner Hilding Anders, Davies Harrison has sold a 286,000 sq ft distribution centre in Salmon Fields, Royton, for £5.25 million to floor manufacturer James Halstead plc.
Radcliffe-based James Halstead manufactures, markets, and distributes commercial flooring, industrial trailers and trailer tents and motorcycle accessories.
Established in 1915, the family-run company operates mainly in the UK and Germany and its Customers include hospitals, pubs, prisons and schools.
The purpose-built unit at Royton, on a 12.68 acre site, was occupied by Slumberland until the beds manufacture relocated to Cambridgeshire in early 2008.
Rick Davies, of Davies Harrison, says: “This sale is set to be one of the largest industrial deals in the North-West this year.
“Halstead had been searching for a new building for more than four years.”
Halstead will use it to consolidate existing temporary facilities and allow for continued expansion.
