Business Link North-West has reported a massive increase in inquiries concerning finance and marketing — showing that the region’s firms are determined to beat the recession.

In the last quarter, telephone and e-mail inquiries to the business support service relating to finance and cash flow issues have leapt by 29.7 per cent, while there has also been a 33.6 per cent increase in inquiries relating to sales and marketing.

The Business Link service is used by a third of businesses in the region. Most are looking for access to information and support to maintain and grow their company.

Managing director Peter Watson said: “These statistics say a lot about the fighting spirit and determination that businesses in the North-West are displaying.

“Our telephone brokers are dealing with an increase in calls looking for guidance on finance support and increasing sales or profile in particular, as well as support with other business issues.

“It’s important for businesses that may need some extra help to seek support as early as possible.

“Our company healthcheck can spot early warning signs, identify problem areas or even just give the business owner peace of mind by confirming that all is well.

“We want to help local companies to emerge from the downturn and be strong and competitive and it is well worth going through the healthcheck process as it can be a first step to guarding your business against the recession.”

Business Link North-West has also boosted the financial support available through its Access to Finance service which diagnoses the financial needs of businesses, helps them develop funding strategies and enhances their appeal to lenders and investors.

The service can be accessed by telephone on 0845 00 66 888 and e-mail at info@businesslinknw.co.uk from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, as well as from 8am to 2pm at weekends and bank holidays.
