NOSTALGIA is the name of the game in the new Age Concern Oldham outlet in George Street.
The charity’s latest retail venture offers original fashions, classic handbags, ostentatious jewellery and lots of quirky collectibles and accessories.
The retro theme is the brainchild of Age Concern’s retail manager Bronwen Hamer, who has transformed what was previously a costume hire business above the Community Equipment Store.
She said: “Our latest fashion outlet allows customers to wallow in nostalgia; we even have an original pair of Mary Quant shoes for sale.
“This is our ninth shop and we are really proud to be dealing in such a specialism - with vintage and one-off items. People buying from us can be sure they won’t ever see someone else wearing the same outfit.”
Jessica Hale, a 19-year-old fashion student, will run the town centre store.
Other ventures started by Age Concern include a furniture outlet in Wickentree Lane, Failsworth, and a new-to-you shop in High Street, Uppermill, selling antique furniture and bric-a-brac.
