HEYROD Communications, one of Oldham’s success stories of the new millennium, has relocated from its home of the last eight years.
The Clowes Street, Hollinwood, business has invested more than £250,000 to buy, renovate and refurbish Overens House in Thorley Street, off Greenacres Road.
With 70 staff and a turnover projected at £8.5 million in the current financial year, the business needs to own premises managing director John Roodhouse believes. The 43-year-old, from Diggle, has been with Heyrod Communications from day one, recruited in April, 2001, from Spectrasite, where he was a project manager working on the 02 and 02 Airwave accounts.
Initially an offshoot of Heyrod Construction, a building business which this year celebrated its golden jubilee, Heyrod Communications, has developed from a one-dimensional enterprise offering site and installation services for the telecommunications industry into a multifaceted business.
The projects division has developed a customer base for its general construction services working for a number of North-West councils, including Tameside and Kirklees, among others. Contracts vary from £10,000 to a new job secured in West Yorkshire worth £1.35 million for the refurbishment of 18 schools.
Mr Roodhouse is hoping that the Government’s Schools for the Future programme will bring in new work to add to the division’s growing portfolio of clients which already includes Tesco, Booker Foodline, Asda and major development and construction companies.
