NEW management has given a new look to one of Oldham’s well-known businesses.
Paul Curran’s recruitment has seen the emergence of Prestige Allparts Ltd as a major player in the recycled spares industry, which through an internet presence now has an export sales arm from the one-acre site in Mossdown Road, Royton.
Mr Curran (36), from Royton, is the son-in-law of proprietor Terry Kirk, who has owned the 30-year-old business for the past 18 years.
With 20 years experience of the Mercedes spare part industry on his cv, Mr Curran has transformed the old breaker’s yard into a modern, slick and focused operation which is looking towards a bright future with a near 500 per cent increase in turnover.
Work will begin this summer at the Mossdown Road site to expand the sales office — which in turn will lead to three new jobs — and create a new sales counter and reception.
This investment, alongside a new 10-car transporter, will rise to more than £100,000 when other alterations to the yard are completed, said Mr Curran, who has ambitions to drive the company into new markets.
He said: “We are shedding our old image while retaining the core of the business. We are predominantly a Mercedes spares and parts supplier, which is the industry I know best, but we also supply parts from other models and marques.
“Thanks to our internet presence we attract inquiries from not only this country and we are increasing our export sales all the time.”
In addition to the parts supply chain, Mr Curran, who became managing director when the business became incorporated 18 months ago, has introduced a service division, again specialising in Mercedes — including a diagnostics centre — but able to work across a range of vehicles.
With a full-time staff of 10, which is set to rise once the improvements are completed, Prestige Allparts Ltd is looking ahead to a bright future , with more improvements in the pipeline including an initiative in line with European legislation.
